What ideas were you trying to get across in 'Herfra til manen'?
It is the story of two children who live with a violent father. They have nobody else, but have to be together. As he is growing up the older brother dreams that perhaps there is another life out there.
You have said you didn't want to make a political film.
It is not a political film, although I know there are children like these in every European country in one way or another. Children that have to take on responsibilities and who nobody loves. I wanted to tell their story, but I didn't want to politicise the film.
It is difficult to make a mark in other countries?
This is what I like best. It is interesting to see audiences enjoying things from other cultures. It is important to communicate with people who have nothing to do with my culture. This prize is a great honour.
