EDUCATION

ALCINE EDUCATION

During its 50 plus years of history, ALCINE has always understood the importance of education in the audiovisual world. As early as 1983, a Conference on Film Education in Basic, Secondary and Higher Education was held, and in 1984 the directors of the five most important film schools in Europe met in Alcalá, Lisbon, Paris, London, Munich and Rome. In the 1985 edition, a symposium on Film Education in Spain was held with the presence of numerous independent professionals from all over the country, and, in the same line, in 1986 it dealt with film, video and new technologies applied to education.

Today, the educational aspect continues to be one of the fundamental pillars of the festival, with five sections that attracted more than 5,000 spectators at the last edition. With the start of this new stage, we want to consolidate and expand this fundamental aspect of our festival.

The usual sections such as Idiomas, Kids or Joven, arranged with educational centers, add a new space such as the Gilitos Cultural Centre, which will satisfy the high demand of groups that request these sessions. A special session will also be repeated, Corto Prisión, which brings short films to the prison population of the Madrid II Penitentiary Centre and, for the first time, to the Madrid I women's prison through the CEPA Clara Campoamor.

In addition, we will host the 1st Meeting on Education, Cultural Mediation and Film, focused on education and art professionals. We will create two new sections: ALCINE_lab, conceived as a laboratory of thought on contemporary image, which in its first edition will explore non-anthropocentric audiovisual imaginaries and will produce a small publication on the subject. ALCINE Impacta: a seed from which it is hoped that initiatives around film as a tool for social transformation will grow and in this first edition will feature the premiere of the first documentary on the urban art collective Boa Mistura, the debut film by the Complutense director Dan Barrieri.
